Separate your fixed bakery branding from the information that changes by bread variety. A shared pack with controlled labels can simplify artwork, provided each label version and application is managed.

Keep a label register beside the production plan

Assign a distinct reference to each approved design. Record its product/recipe version, dimensions, application surface, file date and quantity. Identify who approves a change before using the design. Ingredient or other required food information must be reviewed for the actual product and applicable requirements; this worksheet is packaging organization, not a compliance determination.

An illustrative plan of 80 plain, 40 seeded and 20 rye loaves gives 140 shared packs but three identification quantities. Do not order 140 labels of each design. Keep spoilage or practice allowance visible for each label run.

Test identification on the finished pack

Check the label on the exact pack, with the intended closure and handling. Confirm that the customer can distinguish varieties and that the label does not obscure the opening, instructions or necessary product information. If a QR or barcode is used, test the final printed size and actual curved or folded surface.

Describe the pack substrate and storage/application conditions to the label supplier. A similar-looking adhesive or stock photo does not establish suitability.

Compare the work of the two approaches

A shared pack plus labels adds an application task and inventory of label versions. Separate printed packs add distinct primary-pack artwork runs and may have different order constraints. Compare the same total product mix, delivered prices, setup per design and measured application time.

When requesting a quote, send a matrix with one row per approved design and the quantity it serves. State whether the primary pack is fixed or also changes, so the proposal can confirm the actual runs.

Questions about this decision

Can I use one shared pack for different bread varieties?

It can be a planning approach when product fit and required information are resolved. Specify the pack and each identification design separately.

Does a combined label total meet every artwork minimum?

Only if the supplier confirms that rule. Quantities per artwork remain separate even when their planning total is combined.

How should I handle a recipe change?

Review the affected information and approve a new label version where required. Identify old stock so the wrong version cannot enter the current run.
