Custom Packaging Quote Checklist

A useful packaging quote starts with the product being packed, the quantity, the required format and the delivery destination. Use this checklist to describe your project before requesting pricing.

The product and its intended use

Describe what goes inside, its dimensions or fill weight, and how the packaging will be used. A retail display, takeaway order and parcel shipment can require different formats. Include protection, closure and handling needs rather than selecting only by appearance.

Dimensions and quantity

State your units and clarify whether box dimensions are internal or external. For cups, distinguish beverage capacity from physical dimensions; for pouches, a fill weight is not a bag dimension. If requesting multiple products or designs, give a separate quantity for each.

Printing and artwork

Describe which surfaces you want printed, the colors and any desired finish. Attach a design preview if available. Do not adapt artwork to an unconfirmed dieline: first request the template for the final specification. See artwork preparation.

Delivery and comparisons

Include the destination ZIP code and target date. When comparing quotes, check that dimensions, material, print coverage, quantity, setup charges, delivery charges and timing refer to equivalent specifications.

Example request

“I need 1,000 printed mailer boxes for an ecommerce product. My product measures 7 × 5 × 2 inches and needs room for an insert. Please quote an appropriate internal size, exterior full-color print and delivery to my ZIP code. I have a logo PDF and need the final artwork template.”
